December 19, 2019 (Thursday). 03 day Madhya Pradesh Design Utsav ‘MOSAIC’ organized by National Institute of Design Madhya Pradesh started with warm response from the students and artisans associated with design industry and academia. Day-1 of the design fest started with symposium on Sustainable Design & Humanism under ‘THINKIN’ - a platform for solemn deliberations to set objective for enriching various curriculums at NID MP.
SUSTAINABILITY is the first symposium under THINKIN to map the objectives for NID MP's approach to add value to the existing curriculum of various disciplines and also to set agenda for a specialised Masters level Program on 'Sustainability & Design'.
The Symposium on “Sustainability was attended by the eminent speakers such as Mr Kartikeya Sarabhai-the founder Director of Centre for Environment Education under Ministry of Environment and Forests, Mr Sharad Chandra Behar- a retired senior civil servant of Govt of Madhya Pradesh, Dr Sunil Kumar – Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya Bhopal, Dr Parag K Vyas- the eminent designer and also a number of experts from industry and academia. Besides the symposium, design shops with creation of students from NID, stalls of artisans & geographical indicators of MP and book stalls have been put in the campus for benefit of the visitors. Live demonstrations of the products designed by the students of NID was also presented to the visitors and students from other institutions.
A large number of students from academic institutions such as NIFT, Sagar Group, IEHE, Avantika University, Sage University visited the utsav site and enjoyed taking part in design competitions and art & craft demonstrations. Visitors and students were also made familiar with the innovative works of students and a counselling session was also arranged for them. Today’s event culminated with a musical concert by Niruntar Band. Prof Dhiraj Kumar welcomed all the visiting dignitaries and apprised them about the activities of the institute.
